Testing Procedures
Dr. Magaziner and Dr. Greenberg will recommend individualized laboratory tests which will enable us to diagnose and treat your specific problems.

Comprehensive Cardiovascular Screening
Although cholesterol metabolism is an important aspect of cardiovascular disease, surprisingly it may play a role in only one third of the cases of heart disease. Therefore, we also screen for other vitally independent factors such as homocysteine, fibrinogen, C-reactive protein, Lp(a), oxidized LDL cholesterol and platelet aggregation.

Cancer Screening
Since cancer affects one in three Americans, we place strong emphasis on cancer prevention and treatment. We use cancer-screening studies such as AMAS, NK cell activity, apoptosis index, and cell-cycle analysis to screen for and monitor cancer treatment. We also recommend a combination of dietary changes, lifestyle modifications and both oral and intravenous nutritional therapies to complement conventional therapies.

Intravenous & Intramuscular Nutrient Therapies
We have administered more than 50,000 intravenous nutrient infusions for a wide variety of complex medical disorders. We have found this form of treatment to be particularly effective, since it bypasses the gastrointestinal tract and goes directly into the bloodstream. Furthermore, it allows us to give dosages larger than what would typically be taken by mouth.

Vitamin Testing
When medically indicated your levels of vitamins will be measured through a blood analysis. This helps to pinpoint which specific vitamins you may need to obtain optimal health.

Chelation Therapy
Chelation therapy has been used to remove heavy metals from the body and reduces the production of free radicals. It has been used to help alleviate symptoms associated with heart disease, carotid artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.

Mineral Analysis
This test is to assess your body's level of numerous trace minerals including calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, selenium, chromium, manganese and boron. It will also check for toxic metals such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, antimony and mercury. The minerals are assessed through blood, urine or hair.

Complete Digestive Stool Analysis
This test will analyze a stool sample to assess your ability to digest and assimilate meat, vegetable fibers, starches and fats. Furthermore, it will check for blood, mucous, bacterial balance, stool chemistry, ova and parasites, and for the overgrowth of yeasts such as candida albicans.

The comprehensive digestive stool analysis involves collecting a stool specimen at home and sending it to an affiliate lab. The results will be available in approximately two weeks. We may also suggest testing for "leaky gut syndrome," small-intestine bacterial overgrowth, H. Pylori, or liver detoxification.

Hormone Assessment
Since many of the body's naturally occurring hormones decline with advancing age, we place great emphasis on restoring these hormones back to levels associated with peak performance. Hormone studies may include assessment of DHEA, cortisol, pregnenolone, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, or IGF-1 levels. These studies may be performed on blood, urine or saliva.

Candida Albicans / Yeast Testing
The overgrowth of candida albicans has been linked to numerous medical complaints such as chronic vaginal yeast infections, intestinal gas and bloating, chronic depression, frequent infections, and musculoskeletal disorders.

We are able to assess your body's sensitivity to candida albicans in the following ways:

  • candida skin sensitivity via provocative allergy testing
  • anti-candida antibodies or immune complexes via a blood specimen
  • yeast overgrowth on a complete digestive stool analysis

Provocative Allergy Testing
This form of allergy testing is the most reliable, safe and effective in diagnosis and treatment. We are able to assess sensitivities to foods and food preservatives, pollens, dust, molds, hormones, bacteria, neurotransmitters and environmental chemicals. The allergy testing and treatment uses intradermal injections or sublingual drops.  Treatment can be continued at home so that you do not have to come in to our office for weekly or monthly injections. Our staff is highly trained to notice subtle changes during allergy testing. The allergen may produce a skin response, or subjective and objective complaints may be noted. Once your skin response and symptoms are alleviated, your neutralizing dose is reached and the next substance may be tested. Other forms of allergy identification may also be suggested. These include blood testing, electrodermal screening via the Bio Meridian System, or NAET.

Nutrition & Lifestyle Counseling
In order to best treat your medical condition, it may be necessary or advisable to have a consultation with our lifestyle counselor. She will formulate an individualized program which takes into consideration diet and nutritional suggestions along with work habits and lifestyle-related changes.

Other Diagnostic Tools
Other miscellaneous laboratory testing may include a complete blood count; liver/kidney function, cholesterol, triglycerides, thyroid function, and serum electrolytes tests; comprehensive evaluations for cardiovascular disease, cancer and osteoporosis risk factors, amino acids, essential fatty acids, pesticide or herbicide levels; chronic virus testing; immune studies; a five- or six-hour glucose tolerance test; urinalysis; EKG; pulmonary-function testing; ultrasound, or doppler studies.
