Understanding Underlying Causes Autism, pervasive developmental delay (PPD), and attention deficit disorder (ADD) are labels given to conditions that cause some children to have difficulties with perception, thought, language, behavior and sociability.  While these conditions may be related by similarity of symptoms, the names attached to them tell us nothing about their underlying biochemical, immunological or environmental causes. Detecting Autism and ADD

The initial investigation into the autistic spectrum or ADD begins with a detailed history and physical examination of your child.  Areas of focus include problems with immune weaknesses and recurrent infections, reactions to vaccines, food sensitivities, complications during pregnancy, labor and delivery, digestive disorders, exposure to environmental toxins, chronic antibiotic use and candida or yeast overgrowth.

The preliminary examination enables us to determine the types of specialized tests we believe are indicated. These highly sensitive tests, which we use in formulating an individual treatment plan, may include analysis of urinary organic acids, urinary peptides, amino acids, hair elements, essential fatty acids, liver detoxification profile, stool analysis, intestinal permeability, immune function tests, and specialized allergy testing utilizing provocation-neutralization, electrodermal screening or blood allergy testing.

At the Magaziner Center, our specialized treatment program for both the treatment and prevention of developmental disorders is one we offer to:

Our method of treatment is one that involves close monitoring of your child by our physicians and nursing staff, and the administering of  safe, nontoxic dietary supplements, antifungal agents, and dietary modifications. We also place great emphasis on the evaluation and treatment of toxic metals, including mercury, lead, cadmium and aluminum. Treatment may also include asking your child to avoid certain foods which could be harmful to his or her well being. Our staff nutritionist will guide you through our recommended dietary program.
