Gastro Intestinal Complaints
Published on April 27, 2012.
So many of us suffer from a variety of gastrointestinal complaints, ranging from gas, intestinal bloating, fullness, diarrhea, constipation, pain and unfortunately sometimes you go have an X-ray done, the upper GI is normal, the lower GI can be normal, endoscopy, colonoscopy, all these tests can be normal.
I want to stress that these are primarily anatomical tests. What we do here is stress the importance of function testing. That is what is happening internally. How are the insides of your intestinal tract and your whole GI tract functioning that maybe contributing to your symptoms.
What we do is perhaps take a look for food allergies or food sensitivities, what we eat has a great impact in what is happening internally with our GI tract. We may also suggest you have specialized testing done including a stool analysis. In looking at this we can see what you are digesting, what you are assimilating well, we can look at the bacteriology to see if there is appropriate balance of the friendly and unfriendly bacteria.
We can also take a look at the fatty acid balance in the GI tract. All this gives us clues as to the best and most effective ways in treating your GI symptoms.
So if you are suffering from irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, crohn’s disease, I truly think that by using the natural, functional approach is something that should be absolutely considered for any of these health conditions.
