Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
The Magaziner Center for Wellness and Anti-Aging Medicine is proud to introduce Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). Hyperbaric oxygen has been used for more than 25 years with a rich history of safety and efficacy. This therapy is used to greatly increase oxygen uptake to the brain, nervous system, skeletal muscle, and all body tissues. It also improves metabolic and cellular function, increases one of the body’s principal antioxidant pathways, has anti-inflammatory properties and targets areas of reduced blood flow.
Historically HBOT has been used for decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, smoke inhalation, excessive blood loss, gangrene, radiation necrosis, severe burns, wound healing, diabetic foot ulcers, skin grafts, and severe anemia.
This treatment, however, also has other novel uses including helping those with autism, stroke, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, chronic fatigue, ADD/ADHD, Lyme disease, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, sports injuries, migraine headaches, cognitive impairment, fibromyalgia, Crohn’s disease, post-surgical healing, chronic inflammation, Bell’s palsy, spinal cord injuries, neuropathy, and macular degeneration. In these cases, HBOT is considered “experimental and investigational” and is not covered by most insurance companies. HBOT may be combined with other treatment modalities such as intravenous vitamin therapy, chelation, prolotherapy, and vitamin supplementation.
Brain imaging SPECT scans have demonstrated the benefit of HBOT, showing a revitalization of blood flow and brain function in chronic illness. Patients have had beneficial results after years of exposure to chemical neurotoxins such as solvents, pesticides, mold toxins, and heavy metals.
Each treatment lasts one-hour and can be used for both adults and children. Although certain conditions will have an immediate response, repeated treatments are usually necessary. The treatment chamber is very comfortable. During therapy you can relax, take a nap, read a book, watch a video, or listen to music.
